The Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital Abuja Nigeria (member of the Limi Hospitals) recently received an “Award of Excellence in Cardiovascular Care” from the Nigerian Cardiac Society (NCS).
The Nigerian Cardiac Society, the umbrella body for all involved in cardiovascular practice in the country, at her recently concluded 2021 Annual General and Scientific Meeting in Lagos and 50th anniversary celebration selected the Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital Abuja in recognition of her contributions to the growth and development of Cardiovascular Medicine and Surgery in Nigeria.
This prestigious award by the custodians, teachers, and premiers of cardiovascular medicine in Nigeria, the NCS, was received on behalf of Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital by the Limi Hospitals’ Group Medical Director, Dr Iseko Iseko, in company of consultants from the Cardiocare Hospital.
Speaking on the award, Dr Iseko highlighted the strides made by Cardiocare Hospital in establishing Northern Nigeria’s pioneer indigenous cardiovascular institute and robust interventional cardiology practice. He remarked on the vision of the hospital to make advanced healthcare particularly in Cardiovascular and Internal medicine readily available to Nigerians and become as accessible as bread. To this end, Cardiocare hospital had not only embarked on expanding healthcare services but also devoted a lot of her resources to training healthcare professionals via monthly webinars, an annual cardiovascular symposium now in its 5th edition and exposing interested cardiology fellows to interventional cardiology. “It is hoped that by God’s grace we would be able to expand this service and advocate to make it more affordable for as many as possible”, he said.
To date Cardiocare Hospital has performed over three hundred (300) successful cardiac and vascular interventions ranging from coronary/peripheral angiography, stents, pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, IVC filters, and cardiac resynchronization devices amongst others. With the advent of these services in Cardiocare and some other centers around the country, it is hoped that the rate of medical tourism would be reduced especially giving the COVID pandemic, and rising exchange rates.
The Cardiocare Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Oyindamola Awofisoye, thanked God for his help in providing healthcare despite a lot of mitigating circumstances, and was immensely grateful to the NCS for recognizing the work being done by Cardiocare. Additionally, he thanked the government for her role in allowing private medical services to proffer world-class solutions to national medical issues.
